Ways to increase towing capacity in Ford F250 6.2L V8?

Question type: Car Customization

Hi, sorry if this is a dumb question but I own a 2015 Ford F250 SRW 4x2 Crew Cab with a 6.2L V8 regular gas, not diesel.  I am looking at Fifth Wheel trailers and don't know my Axle Ratio but am assuming it's 3.73 (don't know where to find it).  Truck has towing package.  Is there a safe way to increase the max towing capacity?  Fifth wheels seem to be around 13,500 - 13,900 for the models I like but I think I'm limited to 12,500 towing.  Any suggestions would be appreciated!  Thanks, Meg

the axle ratio should be found either on the door post panel or the options list for your vehicle. quite often a 4:10 ratio is used in towing packages but not always. You can increase the amount of weight that you can handle to a point, with rear suspension enhancements, but it wont really increase the amount that is safe to tow. some vehicles can be computer chipped to increase horse power, but there again you are limited to what the engine and transmission can do together to tow. I would pose this question to your ford dealer though, you don't want to add any mods that will void your warranty.

You cannot increase tow capacity of truck no matter what you do. I have the same problem. That truck tows 12600 lbs. with a payload of 3480. So your pin weight of 5th wheel. full gas (200LBS) passengers, hitch, cargo. and a 10-15% safety margin. You will be over weight most likely.
