2014 Honda Civic starting weekly

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My mom purchased a used 2014 Honda Civic.  The salesman informed her that this is one type of car that needs to be started weekly as the battery will die.  I have never heard of such a thing.  Is it possible to put a part on it so that she does not have to start it weekly.  She is elderly and in the summer it is fine as she is going somewhere weekly.  But in the winter she tends to hibernate.  Thus one time last year she did not run it so the battery died on her.

I have never heard of this happening. Maybe disconnect the battery terminal in the winter months, but I'm not sure if that would be advisable in an emergency situation. It would prevent anything from draining the battery.
