How can I fix my driver's side window?

Asked by compand22 Feb 07, 2022 at 10:50 AM about the 2014 Ford F-150

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2014 F150. My driver's side window will not go down. All of the other
button's work and I can control the windows and unlock the doors and what not
from my driver's side panel. However, when I try to lower my driver's side door
down the "door ajar" signal comes up on my dashboard. Not sure what the deal
is. Any thoughts?

You need to test the window switch, the wiring, and the window regulator itself. The wiring to the door latch lock would be another culprit.

Remove the door panel, locate the regulator (electric motor), unplug it, use a multimeter set to DC volts. Insert the prongs into the connection, one on each side. Operate the switch with key on. If the meter reads 12V, the regulator is bad. If no voltage, the problem is elsewhere.
