My engine light blinked 7 times when I turned the
key in the ignition, but not all the way and I counted
the blinks while in park.

The blinky thing is for the old OBD1 codes, not for your truck which is OBD2.

Have it scanned for trouble codes at a local autoparts store and post the codes here or do a Google search for problems.
