How do I fix a the fan belt pulley with the radiator fan on it if it is wobbling a lot?

I have a 1986.5 Nissan D21 Hardbody. The pulley with the radiator fan is
wobbling a lot. How do I fix it?

So is the pulley bent or is the water pump failing? If the pump bearings are shot you will have to replace the pump. with the engine off, grab the fan and see if you can wiggle fore and aft, if you can then the bearings are shot, if not then the pulley is damaged.

Yes the fan wiggles back and forth, up and down with the engine off. Do I have to replace the whole pump? Is that something an amateur mechanic can do?


Yes and Yes, if. You have basic knowledge you should be able to do this job. Just remember to get all the air out of the cooling system during refil, I have found that putting up on ramps is just right to make the air move forward during the refill.
