What happens if I put 87 in a car that takes 93 on a regular basis?

I used my boyfriends car and wanted to put gas. I put 87 regular instead of 93

If it doesn't knock and runs good then don't worry , If he thinks 93 has more power he is wrong , 87 & 93 have the same potential energy
