The timing cover is leaking on my Chevy Traverse.

Asked by May 01, 2017 at 04:39 PM about the 2013 Chevrolet Traverse

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The timing cover is leaking on my Chevy Traverse. It's not a horrible leak but
definitely noticeable. Should we pay (over $1,000) to have it fixed or is it ok to
have a little oil leak?

Timing cover leaks are a result of factory sealants breaking down. The leak will get progressively worse. Upper engine components are usually damaged first as a result of low lubrication. It is definitely recommended if needed! Although expensive, if done correctly, it can go potentially 100,000 miles before needing it again!
