Too Much Transmission Fluid

Asked by Travis Nov 27, 2018 at 10:37 PM about the 2012 Jeep Liberty

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Jiffy Lube put too much (like double the amount) transmission fluid in my car.
Now, my car will not go in reverse. They claim it isn't because of the excess
fluid and say it is not their fault, but everything I have read say this will cause
major problems. Any recommendations on what I can do? Is there a way for a
mechanic can tell if the problems were caused by too much fluid?

Tell them you will sue! How soon after leaving did reverse stop working?

It was 4 months, which is part of their contention as to why it is not their fault, but no one else touched it in that entire time and it was way over. I don't know enough about cars to quite understand how long problems would take... As for suing, I am looking into small-claim lawyers, but I am guessing I will need something from a mechanic that says "Yes, the excess fluid caused this problem" and trying to figure out if that can even be determined?

drain some back , one way or another, it may recover reverse if it was just hydraulic ly locked from submerging the valve body
