MY 2012 DODGE JOURNEY WILL NOT SHIFT INTO REVERSE

I TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND NEXT TIME I STARTED IT WOULD TURN ON
HOWEVER IT WILL NOT REVERSE

What have you tried so far? Have you done any troubleshooting on it?

Mine done that on the same day if you take the chrome piece off around gear shifter look down on the right side between gear shifter and wall there is a white piece of plastic get a scdew driver stick it between white and black plastic I broke the white piece off and you can shift it its a safety shift where you can shift with out foot on break

Sense of cable issue. Get out of car to prove it and push the car forward or backwards. Sensor or cable not right and not seeing lock mode in Park. I do it for mine. Sometimes it won't start and I see -- instead of P for park. That's when I walk outside and move the car an inch. Make sure when you shut car off that the dash reads P for park and not -- even though you are in the park position on the shifter
