My Kia Soul tempest when I put fuel in the mpg re sets to zero

I am trying to find out if anyone else with an 11 plate soul tempest has this problem of the
mpg resets to zero whenever I put fuel in so on a long journey I am unable to get the true
mpg

They've called LIE O METERS. The accuracy is not to be relied upon. Do the math by hand if you want to know exactly.
