Motor oil Gusher

Asked by davidloh Sep 05, 2012 at 02:41 AM about the 2006 BMW 3 Series

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Motor oil signal blings every week - need to top up 1 litre.  Water radiator contaminated with oil - water turns oily and murky - like teh tarik.  Motor workshop changed some hose and pump...no result. Suspect oil and water has mixed due to broken gasket? Any clue?  Best workshop to refer to?

Most likely a head gasket. Worst case scenario, cracked engine block. Take it to a reputable mechanic. There are pressure tests that can be done on the cooling system (pressure drop), and cylinder pressure tests (Applying compressed air into the cylinders to see if air gets in the cooling system).

Head gasket or radiator. Lol the shop who did that to fix oil in water isnt worth going back to.

Many thanks to Goodwrench and Andrew. I have since taken my car to another mechanic for another check. Thanks again.
