Common Issues 2010 F150 200k+ miles

Asked by Eatsleeplaw Oct 21, 2018 at 07:56 PM about the 2010 Ford F-150

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Looking for some general discussions here of what F150 owners have seen
happen or had to do on their 200K+ mileage trucks. I'm looking at going
back to truck ownership, and a couple of higher mileage 2010 F150s came
up on my search. They have pretty much everything I want in the truck and
are well within my price range (under $10,500 is a must), but they're sitting
at a shade over 200k miles each.

One is an F150 Crew Cab Lariat, the other an F150 SuperCrew.

I'm still in the exhaustive research part of my truck search, so I'm wondering
what YOU have seen with such high-mileage trucks in terms of repair,
replacement, common issues, what to expect, etc.

Use:
- mostly highway driving to work with some around-town
- personal use w/ some hauling of large bags of dog food and crates
- snow driving in the winter (Minnesota)

I appreciate any information and insight into expected maintenance y'all can
share. Thank you!

PS both are 4x4/Fx4, I *have* owned a truck before but nothing of this size
or mileage, so I'm trying to make sure I have all the right information going
into a test drive and mechanic check.

I have a 2002 FX4 F150 with 204,000 miles. Engine runs like a top but have had transmission problems in the past. The Triton engines can run forever when taken care of. Currently it is great with just a few little things that need fixing like an inaccurate fuel level sender. Anything can and will go wrong with a truck with that many miles. Remember that the miles you drive will add up fast. 20k a year and in less than 5 years you would have 300,000 miles.

The 3 V Triton engines have two issues. One is the cam phasers and the other is the spark plugs.
