2002 Hyundai Sante Fe Everything shits off on startup

When I insert the key and put it to the on position
everything comes on, radio lights fans etc. but
once I turn the key to start everything shuts off and
won't come back on again for several minutes.  At
first I thought it was the relay because when I took
the relay out the car wouldn't crank but all the
lights and radio stayed on. Replaced the relay but
still have the same problem. I'm guessing it's a
security system issue probably with the ecu but
om trying to find out if it could be something else,
a short perhaps? If anyone has any idea I'm all ears
thanks.
