My Subaru clunks when turning--but only sporadically--

I took my car to the dealer 3 times--the first two times, they said they couldn't
find anything; yesterday, they said it was a rock in the control arm--but it's still
"clunking"  The problem is I can drive it for days and nothing happens--and
then, out of nowhere, it does again.  It is completely random--has nothing to
do with the temperature, how long I drive, how fast I drive...
