Sienna Beeping when car is in gear

Asked by TenorJeff Jun 07, 2021 at 11:29 AM about the 2010 Toyota Sienna

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2010 Toyota Sienna beeps when I put it in gear. It does not beep while in
park. The beep is similar to the seat belt warning beep or the door-open beep. I
fastened all of the seat belts and made sure all  doors, including fuel, hood and
back door are closed. The beeping persists whenever I put it in any gear. Any
idea as to why?

Most likely you have a door switch that is going bad, so the van thinks a door is open (most likely a sliding door). You can verify this by looking at your dome lights—if they are coming on when it is beeping (if you have it set to turn on the lights when the doors are open). Here is an article on how to replace them, it is an easy repair: http://www.shareyourrepair.com/2013/02/how- to-fix-sienna-dome-lights-randomly.html
