Odor from air conditioner

I have an 09 Civic with 25K miles (city driver) that's
why the low miles, i always have serviced at the
dealer.  I  just turned on the air conditioner and a
terrible odor fumes smell is blowing out.  What
would be causing that?

Have the dealer use a hand held gas analyzer check for CO the exhaust might have a minor leak? is this only when the AC is on.. A cracked exhaust manifold can poison a person in the cabin.Regards

You might also have bacteria and mold growing on the AC condenser. Running the AC and then not running vented air or turning off the AC before you shut the car down will help the bacteria grow. The coils can be cleaned.

The odor smells like chemicals/Freon not mold. I checked beneith the car, it is not leaking. Thank you for responding.

Yes, the odor is only when the A/C is on.
