Shift linkage broken

Asked by GuruW77B5 May 31, 2018 at 12:53 PM about the 2009 GMC Envoy

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just had my rear seal replaced a couple months
ago  and know they had to pull out the transmission
to fix it, it's been running a bit funny since then..but
I went to put it in reverse and my shifter wouldn't
grab- my mechanic said its the shift linkage is
broken now ! Just wondering if maybe when they
did the rear seal if something wasn't done correctly
that may have caused this to happen- Not fond of
paying to have this now fixed after the thousands
spent just 2 months ago !

Get under the vehicle and make sure the linkeage bushing is intact. If not, that's your problem, it's about $15 plastic piece made by Dorman in the "Help" section of any automotive store part # 14057. Very easy to do. If the linkage itself is broken, yep, take it back to the shop.
