service engine light

Asked by 4233 Nov 16, 2012 at 11:15 PM about the 2009 Volkswagen Jetta

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Took the car to the dealer for the engine light. Found fault in the particulate trap. The service regeneration and tested and set basic settings on egr and turbo. They also went ahead and added a soft ware update criteria/01 ecn 23h1. The fuel milage went from 45 to 38.6 . Dealer  says that s the way it will be. How do I get back to 45 or better on the mileage?? are there any chips that will do this for me.or other after market upgrade??  Thanks hlarsonfarm@gmail.com

Tell them to undo what they did, if they serviced it correctly u would not get worse gas milage. Take it to different dealer, tell them what car is doing now. Because thats not how it is. Milage just doesnt go down because of a software update,
