We have a 2001 Honda Inight Automatic The transmission is making a winding noise in drive. What is this noise?

Hi jchsales21, Check the fluid level and fill the required level. If the fluid is fine you may have a bad torque converter and or scored gears. I would take it to your local transmission shop or trusted mechanic. Good luck!
Flush the fluid with new Honda CVT fluid. Depending on the state of your CVT your first gear clutch might be burnished and it could be toast. Best bet do a flush and if you are lucky see if your CVT is one of the few with a TSB on it and get that work done
check the transmission fluid. if it has turned brown, get it changed.
Transmission input shaft bearing can start making a grinding noise in drive and reverse only. While it can be replaced very few mechanics have experience doing so. Having the engine oil changed, for no rational reason that I know of, has been known to greatly reduce this noise.
