Sliding Doors on 2005 Odyssey not closing completely and draining battery

Asked by GuruTJ59W Jul 26, 2018 at 11:06 AM about the 2005 Honda Odyssey

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2005 Honda Odyssey with 80000 miles. I have been having sliding
door problems and the "sliding door" warning has appeared on my dash. I
could live with this but I am now having battery problems with even a new
battery. I brought it to Dealer and diagnostics showed problem with Latching
Mechanism, door not completely closing and calling for small charge to
close the door. The new mechanism would be over $800 ($1600 for two)
and the Van is not worth much more than that. Can I bypass the electrical
function? I can easily live with mechanical doors only.
