Cooling problem

Question type: General

The temp gauge goes to hot rapidly and the it blows cold air.  If you turn down the heat warmer air comes back eventullay  and the temp gauge goes back to normal.  Any ideas? 2000 Jimmy

It might be an electrical (check relay or relays) or Malfunctioning Thermostat problem, or Clogged Heater Core.Sometimes the heater core can be flushed to increase flow and other times the core has to be replaced.
