Runs rough when warm

Asked by Metalbender1 May 30, 2009 at 02:41 PM about the 1994 Dodge Dakota

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The truck is fuel injected and runs great when cold but when it warms up it runs so rough it shakes.  When I accelerate it smooths out but when under load it goes right back to runing so rough it shakes the whole truck.

94 Dakota w/3.9 and 98 Ram 1500 w/5.9 both had some problems, rough idle, dies at stop. Couldn't figure out. Replaced everything. Then my friend told me to move cool wire away from the block as far as possible. Problem solved. Not enough insulation on coil wire. Both running great. Try it.
