Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hello,
My 1997 dodge neon has a replaced driver door that is from a 1994 dodge
neon. All my doors lock except this replaced door. The door closes and
stays closed just fine. I can not push the tab down inside the door nor can I
turn the key in the door to lock it (the key fits and will turn but doesn't lock).
Is there a way to fix this on my own? And if so, I've also noticed that the
door won't always open on the first try but the second try works. Is
someone could help and maybe provide pictures, that would be very
helpful! Thank you!

Well I think the problem you are having will require you to pull the door panel off of the door. Inside the door frame is a series of rods connected to the lock and door latching mechanism. There are plastic clip connectors that attach everything together. Take a look and make sure everything is connected correctly. If it is then you will simply have to replace all but the connecting rods (unless they are buggared or damaged in any way at all). Make sure when purchasing the locking mechanisms that you verify all plastic connector joints are included. You do not want to use worn or dry rotted componente. Eg...no junk yard parts!!!!
