1962 amc rambler american transmission

i have a 62 rambler american it is a 3 speed trans you have to shift manuelly
but there is no clutch pedal. the car drives fine but you cannot shift the gears
while the engine is running, sometimes it will shift for you but its not easy.
anyway what im asking is ,there must be some kind of ajustment i can make to
make it shift more easily

Sounds like a B&M conversion has been installed, that is what I use to do to my old vehicles so you could select the drive gear at any time, and yes I blew a few engines.

Sounds like you have the rare E-Stick transmission, with an automatic clutch! You need to get a '62 American factory Technical Service Manual.
