I have 2 2002 dodge dakota' s one 4wd one 2wd same motor, will the trans out of the 2wd work in the 4wd

yes the trany is the same only difference is the tail shaft assy which houses the overdrive assy.....// you can unbolt the the tail shaft housing on both and separate them ....// the torrington bearing and spacer will have to be switch with the tail shaft assy (the are measured to the tail shaft assy ) the overdrive piston can stay with the trany part...also the park rod sticks out and should be the same length but measure them just to be on the safe side...// it takes a little work to get the tail shaft on and the park rod engaged into the park pawl but if you have itin front of you and not in the car overhead it will go in easy
