four way dash guage light

I have a 2001 ford taurus. More recently I am losing my gauge lights and the four way/turn signal lights both light up and stay on. None of the exterior lighting is affected or the lights around the radio or heater controls. This doesn't happen all the time but seems more frequent. Would it be a fuse or could there be an electrical problem?

Sounds like a possible problem with the cluster or the multi-function switch. Have a dealership diagnose this.
I have the exact same problem.....it has recently become more frequent. It used to stay like that for a couple of miles in the AM and now, it stays like that all the time. I have read other similar posts on other furums but have not heard of a fix yet. Any progress toward a solution would be greatly welcomed.

My dash was not lighting until it got very warm inside. It turned out to be a bad connection between the Mylar electrical connector and the push in dash panel. I fixed it by carefully pulling the mylar ribbon out of the socket and placing two layers of tape under the location where the connector goes and re-inserting the connector ribbon. When the dash was pushed back in the lights came on.

The dealer will wnat to replace the dash. That is not needed, the problem seems to be a minor design fit problem, which is corrected by creating a slightly tighter connection.
