no break lites but break lites come on very brite when the key is on

92 gmc sierra 4wd short box 350.bad switch on break petal or short?

The Brake Pedal switch might be worn out. You can go to any auto parts store and get a replacement. The item isn't that expensive. I've had similar problems on different makes, and this has cured the problem for me. If you do not know how to replace it, there are videos on youtube to show you how.
