Exhaust/burned oil smell when starting. 2004 Durango

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Please help.  I have a 2004 Durango, 6 cyl.  When I start the car in the morning, i get a short blast of exhaust or burning oil smell through the vents (even when i have the AC set to recirculate the cabin air).

The smell lasts for about a minute or so . . . and then fine.

I'm also going through a fair amount of oil.

Could it be that i need a new valve cover gasket??

Thanks in advance for any and all replies.

Your valve seals in the enginge are bad they are leaking oil into your motor thats why it smokes when you start it
