Gas smell in the cabin of my 92 Daihatsu Charade

I notice just recently that there is a
strong gas odor inside the cabin
of my Daihatsu Charade. It gets
so bad now I have to drive with
the windows down. Also I've been
noticing a loss of power when
accelerating. What could be
causing these issues.? Any help
would be greatly appreciated.
