can i drive without the cover over my battery?

so in my 1995-2000 Chrysler cirrus the battery is in
front of the left front tire. you have to take the tire
off then this cover in order to get to the battery.
what would happen if i drove without the cover
thats there? the battery would be slightly exposed.
should i get a cover asap or is driving without one
fine?

The battery will be exposed to thrown gravel and water spray from rain.
