What would cause loosing part of the instrument display?

Asked by Guru98X77 Jul 12, 2017 at 02:57 PM about the 2002 Cadillac DeVille

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

While driving I lost the instrument panel, except for the speedometer, on my
2002 Cadillac.  The car still drove.  The next time I drove, the instrument panel
was back.  I also have had a check engine light on  and off. What could be the
problem?

There are ribbon cables to the digital displays and the adhesive eventually comes loose with heat and cold. The check engine light most likely is another issue with the vehicle. Local auto parts store usually will do a free obd read. Good Luck!
