Question type: General

I was given a 1980 f-100 with a straight six in it. Cab is almost perfect and no scratches on the cab seats 1 11/2 inch cut on top of bench. I am trying to find out what this truck should look like when it was new. I want to put the correct box on the truck

Thanks for the info. I take your word to search for a f 150 but am woundering why I really can not find pics of the f 100 were they just not many? Would you also help me with the motor size. It is a straight six and I have been told it was maybe a 292 or the 302 but being a pea brain I thought the 302 was an 8 not a straight six. When I go to purchase parts for it I would like to get the right ones. I have two motors the same size one was rebuilt to run on propane and the other gas.

you may not be able to find f100 pics, i think they might be kinda rare, but the f150 and f250 is exactly the same truck appearance wise. your engine is a 300 (4.9 liter), 292 is a chevy six and yes 302 is a V8. Being an f100 it's possible your wheels have the smaller bolt pattern (4.5") of the ranger and most ford cars not the larger (5.5") of almost all other f series truck. i can't be se sure but some early 80's trucks had the small pattern. here's an ad i found with a 1980 f100 for sale, it has a few pictures. http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.ngcstudios.com/F100/truck_front_pass.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.ngcstudios.com/F100/&h=225&w=301&sz=14&hl=en&start=104&um=1&tbnid=HRhxwMlpagTOtM:&tbnh=87&tbnw=116&prev=/images%3Fq%3D1980%2Bford%2Bf-100%26start%3D90%26ndsp%3D18%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26rlz%3D1T4DKUS_enUS286US286%26sa%3DN

if you want to know what the body should look like then you can look for 80 through 86 f150 but when it comes down to the badges and everything lookin right the only two years that looked almost identical to yours is 80 and 81 in 82 they changed the badges put the ford oval in the grille and took the ford letters off of the hood a 1980 should also have a black grille

If your engine is a 6-cyl. then it's either a 250 or 300. A 292 was a Y-block Ford 8 cylinder engine from the late 50's thru early 1060's. A 302 is an 8-cyl. small block Ford as well. The F-100 was only made thru the early 1980's and are somewhat rare and hard to find. Most were shortbeds. These trucks are very desireable today and the most sought after among F-series trucks. The interior and exterior will look just like any other F-series during the years from 1980 to 1986. Ebay is a good source to find a factory sales brochure for your truck which will give you plenty of photos and specifications for your exact F-series truck. Just do a search for 1980 Ford truck or buy this one right now on ebay at . http://www.ebay.com/itm/1980-Ford-F100-F150-F250-F350-Custom-Ranger-sales-brochure-dealer-literature-/310495474284#ht_1542wt_1018 Good luck with your truck, Kenny/MrBlueOval
