What would be causing my 3a instrument panel fuse to blow?

Asked by Littlejon337 Apr 19, 2013 at 03:52 PM about the 1974 Ford F-100

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The instrument panel lights will not work on my 1974 ford. I have replaced the old headlamp switch was broken. However, the 3a light fuse is still popping every time I turn on the dimmer for the instrument panel. Any help would be appreciated.

You may have hooked the wrong wire to the new switch or pinched the wire going to the dash lights. When a fuse blows immediately, it usually indicates a short circuit to ground.
