First and easiest is check all the fuses. Test with a multimeter if you have one otherwise just visually inspect each fuse. When this all checks out the only other explanation is the ground wire for the instrument cluster has come off. These problems sometimes occur when the car has been fixed by panel shops when repairing minor accident damage and panels on the inside have to be removed. Luckily its quick to fix - finding the wire is another story. Ask a dealer to have the instrument ground wire location looked up in their vehicle repair manual then you'll know where start looking. Hope this helps.

The focus cluster is also known to have problems with moisture and corrosion ( as I have with mine ). If you are able to get the cluster out, you will see corrosion on the solder on the circuit board that controls pretty much everything in the car. There are a few places that do repairs on the cluster instead of taking it to ford and being charged $600, but it will take a few days to get back as it may take time to ship through the mail.
