Sounds like you may have a bleed down in the fuel system, this can be caused by a faulty fuel pressure regulator, bad fuel filter or fuel pump.

I would replace the fuel filter. Your truck may have a carburetor and if so it may need a rebuild. In the meantime I would use a good fuel system cleaner like Seafoam.

Make sure choke is closed when you attempt to start should close when cold and you actuate the throttle once snd release this will/should clise choke and set high idle cam if it doesn't maybe yhat is the issue. Choke closed pulls fuel into carb bia caccum created.
