Shuddering coming from the rear when stopping

Asked by 68RedGT Sep 10, 2012 at 11:09 AM about the 1968 Ford Torino

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was doing a complete brake replacement job, everything new and noticed the right rear seal was leaking. Pulled the axle and the bearing was in pieces. r&r both seals and bearings and while i was that far installed new  leaf springs. The problem, when I apply the brakes at any speed the car shudders like crazy from the rear. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

check your sway bars as the rubbers could have perished, and your rear dampers/suspension as they could have gone weak, and what condition were your hubs in was there a lip from the brakes? if so try having them either ground or replaced
