Brand new fuel pump is getting electricity but won't pump. What could be the issue?

Asked by Jun 03, 2017 at 01:15 PM about the 1999 Nissan Altima SE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

"Service engine soon" light came on then a few days later the car stopped running, it cranked but didn't want to turn over.
We tried using starting fluid and it ran for 30 seconds but then cut off. It's definitely a fuel related issue! We replaced the fuel
pump relay, fuel filter and fuel pump (swapped out 3 different fuel pump's) but still no luck. The hoses aren't clogged. All the
wires are connected properly.

The only problem I thought may have been the issue is that.. one connectors coming from the fuel tank sending unit was
charred. However when we tested it (using a current tester, the bulb lit up) there was enough power going through it.

My next step is taking it to the dealer and having them look at it. Unless someone may have a clue as to what may be wrong.
Hopefully I gave enough info! The "service engine soon" light did come on about a month ago but went away after changing
the oil. Car has 180,000 and ran like a champ before all of this
