Diesel was put into gasoline engine

Asked by May 11, 2018 at 10:07 PM about the 1997 Ford Mustang Coupe

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

About a gallon of diesel was
accidentally put in my 97
Mustang 3.8 v6's near empty
tank. I filled it up with Ethyl,
poured some fuel injector cleaner
in and changed the plugs. It ran
real sluggish for about half the
tank. Now it starts but shuts right
off. It stays running if I disconnect
the tube that connects the throttle
body to the air cleaner. My fuel
pump is working although I dont
know how much pressure it has.
