1996 Mercury sable

Asked by debrahdo2 Nov 18, 2016 at 09:17 AM about the 1996 Mercury Sable LS Sedan FWD

Question type: General

My battery is new and was checked and they said it was a good battery. My
altenator is new and they said it too was good. Car won't start unless I get a
jump and then it seems to start ok after driving a bit. As soon as I park it for
more than an hour or so, I have to get it jumped? Also I changed out the starter
fuse, its OK too.

I just found a little yellow light in the front of my car that was on but I disconnected it. I can't be that lucky to have that be all that was wrong!

When u connect battery, it should spark very lightly but if u see a strong spark it means there's a short somewhere, start by pulling out one fuse at a time til u get to the one causing the spark and that will narrow down where the short is, start with the radio
