The start of the problem was the Tribute was
slow starting especially in the morning when
the engine was cold (sitting all night in a
garage). We live in Arizona so the weather is
hot. So I decided to replace the starter due
to the slow start. Now in the mornings the
starter repeatedly clicks after two attempts to
start. Then on the third try the engine
sometimes slowly turns over. After that for
the rest of the day the Tribute starts right.
Alternator checked out fine as well as the
battery and the starter has been replaced.
The starter has the solenoid attached to it.
At this point I don’t know if the new starter is
bad, possible bad battery (even though it
checked ok), cable issue, or ignition problem.
I am baffled as it does start eventually in the
morning, and runs great and starts up
throughout the day. Battery is almost 3 years
old. Another thing the clock on the radio
needs resetting in the morning.
