Question type: General

It’s about that time where my parent Is
thinking about my high school car and i was
thinking about an 66 el Camino but thought
about the gas mileage and would like to

There wasn't a V6 used in the ElCamino back then, it was a straight 6 and a V8, and fuel mileage was not much of a concern back then so there wasn't much of a gain between 6 cylinder and the V8 due to rear end gear ratios. You didn't start noticing any real fuel mileage until the early 70's.

Beyond the fuel economy thing that tennisshoes covered expertly, think of maintenance & repairs. In the past couple of decades, I've had cars standing idle for weeks to months because parts weren't available, and then the cost was frightening. I've virtually given up on these old dream cars, and I'm afraid to drive my "66 Impala SS for fear of breakage. Get a nice Toyota or Honda, "96 or newer, because OBD-II makes them easier to diagnose..... You'll always remember your first car, and we're here to help you make that a good memory.
