Car want start or come out of gear

Changed rear end in my car now it want go in gear
and engine want even turn over and don't know
what to do

So when changing the rear end, you have to remove the driveshaft. Maybe some of the linkage on the trans was moved. Is it an automatic? The car needs to be in park to start.
