Question type: Car Customization

What is the widest (not biggest) size tires that fits 17" Wrangler JK  before they rub without any lift?
I need more stability plus the fattest looks of tires.
I am thinking size (285/70/17).... Would this size fit my 17" and without any rubbing?
PS. I have absolutely no intensions to make any kind of modifications to fit the widest tires possible on my jeep (JK 4 drs0

Darvi, did you ever decide on tires? I am in the same situation and I am looking at options now. I have also looked at the same size you are looking at, I heard you can go 3 sizes larger but 4 might need to be lifted. Tom Snowmerc@aol.com

I have a 2008 silverado with a 2 inch leveling kit. It has 18 inch rims and 275/70r18 on it right now. If I go down to a 17 inch rim can I fit 315/80r17 tires on without rubbing? Any help if appreciated

I don't think you can go wider on stock wheels. I sometimes rub with the wheel cranked the whole way using stock wheels and tires. You would have to get a wheel with less backspacing, one that sticks out further from the Jeep.
