O/D light blinking means there is an issue with the transmission , which you found out first hand. There is then a OBDii fault code or codes stored in the cars system and can be retrieved to detemine what exactly is causing the issue in the transmission. You can retrieve them by scanning for the OBDii codes. The transmission codes will be 700 level ones. ex. p0700. It could be as simple as a failed transmission solenoid to a broken part inside the trans requiring a rebuild.
