2010 Accent intermittent Engine Light (plus more symptoms)

Asked by Jul 21, 2017 at 05:12 PM about the 2010 Hyundai Accent GL

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My fianci's 2010 Accent has been struggling the past year.
The check engine light has came on intermittently over the
year..some months it's quite often then nothing for a
month or two (with no repair or change). The last issue
was the crankshaft sensor went out (car was dying
randomly at any speed), fixed it haven't had a problem
with lights til yesterday. The past week her car has been
sputtering a little bit, she can only reach 35 mph (pedal to
the floor) up a small incline, the vehicle shakes here and
there..and her check engine light comes on
randomly...trying to get the codes but the light is no longer
on, I'm trying to instigate the check engine light (as she is
the one who drives it) to see if I catch or notice any other
specific symptom, but alas no light. Any suggestions?
Anything that would point to a specific repair or
replacement? My biggest concern is her safety so if I
need to get it fixed I will but if I can manage to avoid a
shop I'd financially prefer that, but I'm looking for any info
someone could help with.
