Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Trying to track down a mysterious electrical problem. My tail lights stopped working, but head lights, Brake lights and flashers still work. At the same time the blower motor also stopped working. I don't know if the two issues are related. I'm baffled.
I could not detect power at the plug to the blower motor but the fuses and relay are good.
Could it be a wire or a short? Any ideas?
thanks!

I was wrong there actually is power getting to the blower motor, and I also powered it up using an external 12V source and the fan turns so I am thinking it must be the resistor. (Still doesn't explain the tail lights) I checked for ground fault and seems fine. I am working on trying to get the blower resistor separated from the plug. Sheesh! anyone have tips on that? maybe I have to cut it and splice a new one in.

To find an electrical problem on a vehicle, use an old transistor radio with a telescopic antenna. Turn the channel to the higher spectrum at an off channel. Keep volume setting up high. Then use the tip of the antenna and trace around the wiring harness. When you get near a bad connection or arc static, you will get strange frequency noise. It may help to have a helper to cycle the power at the battery to create the on off noise detection.
