I have a 2016 Jetta with a manual 6 speed transmission and one day it
started not to go into gear.Start the engine, try to shift into gear and nothing.
Stick would not move. Turn off the engine, put the car into gear and then
start, the car would be in gear and was able to move. It was also able to
power shift into higher gears. Got the car to the VW dealer and after 3 weeks
they said the problem was a worn clutch!
I have worked cars for 40 years and this is the first time I ever heard of a bad
clutch being the cause of a "no shift".
Long story short, after battling with VW, I had them replace the flywheel,
clutch, pressure plate, and the throwout bearing so I could get the car back
on the road.
I contested this repair with the dealer and VW Corporate. They all stand by
Am I wrong? Did I miss something? Or is VW full of it?
