Toyota Transmission makes noise only in 2wd

I got a Toyota 86 22 re with 4-wheel drive and I
have transmission problems the transmission
makes noises and two wheel drive knocking ticking
screeching kind of noises all these noises happen
in neutral and all gears. this sounds completely go
away when I engage the truck into 4 wheel drive.
When I engaging into 2 wheel drive the noises
appear again immediately.

I'd check the linkages to assure they are adjusted correctly...and of course the oil level...easy to overfill...get someone with a "pump" to finger height~
