Smart Key engine will not start
Hi, A rat of all things got into the inside of our 2012 Range Rover whilst it was
undercover in or garage. We are assuming it tripped the alarm and killed the
car...we could not open the vehicle with the key fob remotely and had to use
the emergency key in the fob and once in the car, it will only start by placing
the smart fob up against the three raised bars on the steering column (trying th
start the vehicle once inside brings up the message cannot locate smart key.
Any ideas on why the key fob Smart Key will not unlock the car? Steve
Could be that the rat severed wiring or components that pass electricity to the necessary parts to recognize the fob, or the car battery is too weak to read the fob. Or the fob battery might not be strong enough to send the proper signal.
