C250 misfire when accelerating quickly

Asked by Benzthruthisalready Sep 27, 2019 at 02:24 AM about the 2012 Mercedes-Benz C-Class C 250 Sport

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2012 c250 with 130k miles that misfired when
trying to pass on the freeway and then began running
poorly. Got off the freeway, restarted the car and it was fine
until trying high acceleration getting back on the freeway.
Problem seems to be only when trying to accelerate
quickly. I have changed the spark plugs and changed all the
coils last year. What should I try changing first?

If this has been increasing over time, this type of misfires are most often due to poor condition of electrical components: plugs, coils, wires, or malfunction distributor components like the igniter, or a sensor issue. If sudden, its fuel related and I'd look at the fuel pump or the mass airflow sensor; maybe the EGR valve, a vacuum leak, or a dirty throttle body. The problem really comes as the misfire causes raw gas to enter the exhaust and burn up the catalytic converter..... It's NOT a dire mechanical issue, and you probably just need an extensive tune-up.
